Brian Roberts and Uganda Little League

So, there’s this guy. He is a two time MLB All-Star. He was named the Baltimore Orioles’ Player of the Year in 2005, set a franchise record with 51 doubles in 2008 and, in 2009, was named “Most Valuable Oriole.” Think this guy has a congenital heart defect? Well he does.
Meet Brian Roberts — diagnosed at age two with an Atrial Septal Defect (a hole in his heart) and who, at age five, underwent open heart surgery to close that hole in his heart. Brian is a great example of someone who was born with a congenital heart defect and didn’t let it get in the way of achieving his dreams.

Now, meet the Uganda Little League baseball team. Never heard of them?

Well, neither had I until my son, a baseball fanatic, told me about the team. How did he know about them?

Well, incredibly, they advanced to the World Little League Series, the most elite youth baseball series in the world. They are only the second African team to advance to the World Series! While they lost to Taiwan’s team on August 25, they were heralded for their sportsmanship.

What an extraordinary story… they are real heroes!

But, think of all the Ugandan cardiac kids sidelined because of their heart disease who could achieve their dreams if they could get the lifesaving cardiac care they need.

Join our heart healer team today to help make this a reality!
